hold me closer tiny drawing

For the past month I have been trying my darndest to draw more of the figure. I miss drawing bodies! So I'm trying to meld portraiture and figure drawing together. Also, the highlights are just calling to me recently. I find that starting with white loosens up my drawing style. You've gotta have no fear of that China White pencil!  Cheers to making Maura and Gilmore happy.

Also! Yesterday we found a secret treasure trove of grey and Bogus paper!!! I was so happy I almost cried. I had to be diplomatic and split it though… at least we can all share the joy of dark paper.

The bloody toe is my favorite.

In February, I made a piece to show in The Essence of Dance at the Kress Gallery as part of First Friday events in Spokane. Suzanne invited me to show with her in December, and I spent about a week working on my piece over winter brake. In fact, I framed everything in California and carried all of them on the airplane with me to Spoke-town. It was a whirlwind of work, and overall I am very happy with the final product.
Movement in Blind Contour is basically a self portrait of my own experience with dance.

Ink and water color on paper.

Suzanne (the wonderful artist, director, choreographer) and me.
I am so HAPPY and honored that she invited me to show with her.

I would like to thank Mary Davies for taking these photos for me! What a wonderful woman and friend.

My lady date of the evening! Thank you Meg!!

RUN MICHAEL RUN!

Well, I have to say - I just saw this play and it made me cry like a baby! I am so happy I could contribute to such a wonderful production. So, cheers to Michael Barfield's wonderful direction, and sneaky Neko Case song choices!
