just an update: more figures.

Here are some drawings from the past 3 weeks of Figure Drawing. I'm getting a little better at drawing men, so woot for that! Only with practice right?

the music man

Say hello to Mikel! An all around awesome dude. He writes songs, so go listen to them! Mikel is an abroad student, like myself, at TCD. So I decided to take him on a picture adventure through the more...decrepit parts of campus. And I was sly enough to get him to serenade me! We both faced new challenges, the intimidating world of modeling and the scary world of taking pictures in the dark. So cheers to learning something new with the help of your friends!

and thats me! ... and a motorcycle...

Figures and Fairy Trees

So this week in figure drawing, we did some more blind contour drawing. I am beginning to LOVE blind contour drawing...its really relaxing to just concentrate on looking at something. I suggest you try it. It can be with anything!...not just naked ladies ;]
Anyway, I was drawing a little less crappy this week. So theres some improvement! woot!
By the way, these figure drawing courses are crazy packed with people. I got there early and still had no easel. I was smooshed between people on a chair...which is not my optimum drawing position. I much prefer to stand and have room to stretch and jump around. You gotta keep the blood a' flowin when your looking at something for 2 hours!

She's a little bit witchy...

So I did these last 2 blind drawings with my left had.

I have been working on these quick oil pastel drawings of my favorite places around trinity.
This one is of my window in the afternoon sun. I have a lovely view of Pearse street. Complete with a building that reminds me "Jesus is the light of the world." Its grand.
This is of the small garden by the Museum building. Its tucked back into a little nook, and its benches are usually packed with people reading. However when I went, there was only one other person. It was lovely! The garden is full of flowers and in the middle there seems to be a fairy tree (a tree where people tie ribbons and such on it and ask for their wishes to be granted). I didn't even notice it was there until I sat down to draw. It was really beautiful outside when I drew this, and I even made a little bird friend! If your'e ever at Trinity, its worth having a sit there for a couple of minutes.
ps. I tried to use as many Irish-isms as I could ;] I wrote this at half nine in the morning. what do you expect?

da roof, da roof, da roof is on fiya

I found that if you are ever broed in vegas, just look up!
Here are some of the most impressive ceilings I found, it's too bad I didn't think to take more pictures at the time ....
(so this one isn't really a ceiling, but its a look up!)

Run and tell that!

Well, there's some creepy political commentary.
Yay for me, and yay for photoshop.
